Erika Sunnegårdh, Soprano

Erika Sunnegårdh's engagements with the Met this season include her Metropolitan Opera debut in the role of Leonore as well as Gerhilde in Die Walküre on tour to Japan. This season she will also sing Elsa in Lohengrin in concert in Spain under Semyon Bychkov and Leonore in Fidelio in Milwaukee. Future engagements include Abigaille in Nabucco with the Hedeland Festival in Denmark.

The Swedish-American soprano appeared in numerous recitals in Sweden, England, Israel, Italy and the United States. In the autumn of 2004 she made her European stage debut in the title role of Turandot at the Malmö Opera and sang Elettra in Idomeneo in concert with the Danish Radio Sinfonietta and Adam Fischer. The spring of 2004 included Turandot at the NorrlandsOperan, Sweden.

In May 2005 she sang Beethoven's Symphony No 9 with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Mario Venzago. The current season includes Zemlinsky's Lyrische Symphonie and Schönberg's Orchester Lieder with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda, and Verdi's Requiem with the Stockholm Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Alan Gilbert. In December 2005 Erika Sunnegårdh was the soloist at the Nobel Prize ceremony at the Concert Hall in Stockholm.
